To make the channel send faders and controls visible within the Edit and Mix window of a session.

  1. Left click on "View" within the Pro Tools menu bar.
  2. Hover your mouse cursor over "Expanded Sends".
  3. Left click on the Send or Sends you want to show. A checkmark will be added to the Send or Sends that will display faders and controls. See image below.

The letter that identifies the send (the letter "a" in the image below) is listed to the left of the name of the bus the Send is output to. You can rename the Send by right clicking on the name (DRUM EFX In the example image below) and left clicking on "Rename…" on the menu that appears.

Pro Tools Send Showing In The Mix Window

I've included 2 images below showing 4 channel/track sends in the Pro Tools Mix window. The top image has no send faders and controls showing. The second image has the send faders and controls visible.

Whether you want to show or hide the send controls within a channel strip is a matter of personal taste. It is convenient to have them available in the early stages of the mix process. In the later stages of the mix process you may find it less distracting to NOT display the send controls. This allows you to more easily focus on the audio (music and or sounds) of the mix.

Hide Channel Send Faders & Controls:

  • Left click on "View" within the Pro Tools menu bar.
  • Hover your mouse cursor over "Expanded Sends".
  • Left click on the Send or Sends you no longer want to display faders and controls. The checkmark next to the Send will be removed from the Sends menu.
